HAPCOA Awards Aguila Statue Award to National Latino Peace Officers Association in recognition of 50 years of Service
(San Diego, CA). The Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association (HAPCOA), Executive Aguila Award Committee, selected the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) to receive its National Aguila Statue Award in recognition of its fiftieth year of service to its members and the community that they serve and protect.
This is the highest national award presented by HAPCOA. This year’s award was presented during the NLPOA President’s Luncheon held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, following the keynote address presented by Ronald Davis, Director of the US Marshal Service. This was NLPOA’s 50th National Convention and it was hosted by its San Diego Chapter.
The HAPCOA National Aguila Statue Award was presented by HAPCOA Executive Director Anthony Chapa and Past National President Chief Paul Chapa. Assisting with the presentation was Sgt Esteban Blis, founder of the HAPCOA Panama Chapter. Receiving the award on behalf of the NLPOA was NLPOA National President Ken Chavez.
In addition, on Friday, September 16th, HAPCOA Executive Director Chapa and HAPCOA Past National President Chief Paul Chapa presented a training course entitled: “Executive Leadership: Promotions & Preparing for your Next Assignment Inside or Outside Your Department”. This course was presented following the Training Luncheon Keynote Speaker: Alejandro Mayorkas, US Secretary of Homeland Security.
