(Los Angeles) The Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association (HAPCOA) Los Angeles Chapter hosted a meeting with the Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna on Thursday, May 25th at Deaton Hall (adjacent to the LAPD HQ). Opening the meeting was LASD Commander Ed Ramirez, President of the HAPCOA LA Chapter.
The theme of this open Q&A discussion with HAPCOA members and guests was “Empowering the Future of Law Enforcement”, which is also the theme of this year’s HAPCOA National Law Enforcement Training Symposium (to be held in San Antonio, TX, November 13-16, 2023). This was a unique, first of its kind, meeting with the two highest ranking leaders of law enforcement in Los Angeles County. M/C for this event was Chief Robert Arcos, HAPCOA National Director at Large. These senior law enforcement officials discussed issues both agencies are facing with respect to recruitment, retention, retirement, supporting diversity in policing, maintaining community confidence and the continued evolution of law enforcement as an honorable profession. Both career officials in law enforcement see the future and direction of policing as positive yet challenging and one to be extremely proud of as we serve and protect.
The HAPCOA LA Chapter is to be commended for organizing this very special evening with senior law enforcement leadership. Exposing our emerging Hispanic Officers to accomplished leaders and mentors in law enforcement, is what HAPCOA strives to achieve. Well done!
Also attending this event, and meeting with Police Chief Moore and Sheriff Luna, was HAPCOA Executive Director, Anthony Chapa.
