(Washington DC) Long time HAPCOA member E. Erik Moncayo was recently appointed to the position of Deputy Assistant Commissioner, International Affairs, of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
This position will be in located at CBP Headquarters in Washington, DC and becomes effective in September 2018.
Presently Moncayo is located in San Antonio, TX where he serves as the Chief of Staff and Operations Chief. In his over 20 years of dedicated service Moncayo has served with the CBP in Mexico City, Mexico, San Diego, CA, San Antonio, TX, Panama and now Washington DC.
Moncayo was recognized in 2014 as part of a CBP team that received the Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Exceptional Service Award. He was recognized for working with the government of Panama to detect and interdict illegal weapons shipping from Cuba to North Korea, which posed a threat to national and international security.
Moncayo was a founding member of the HAPCOA Panama Chapter and served as its first Chapter President while he was assigned to the US Embassy in the Republic of Panama.
